This post has been updated to include new information from Nitemoves.

D.C. electronic producer Nitemoves hasn’t put out a major project since his 2013 full-length Themes, but he has another album on the way this spring — and this week he offered a glimpse of what it may sound like.

Nitemoves took to Soundcloud to drop “Music Song,” a track he assembled using samples released by Converse, the shoe and apparel company. He’s been working on the track for his new record, he tells Bandwidth via email.

This week, Converse’s Rubber Tracks studio and Indaba Music rolled out a massive library of original, royalty-free music samples. The audio files cost nothing to use, and as of this writing, there are more than 11,000 of them.

Nitemoves’ Rory O’Connor, along with Com Truise, RJD2, Body Language, Obey City and numerous other producers, built songs for the library’s unveiling, and Rubber Tracks has a detailed list of every sample used in each composition. (Take a look at the samples Nitemoves used.)

“Music Song” reminds me of some of the more ambient moments on Themes, an album I considered one of D.C.’s best of 2013. According to O’Connor, it’s an exercise “in studying Bach’s approach to chordal harmonies and inversions.”
