The years before Mark Mulcahy’s 2013 album, Dear Mark J. Mulcahy, I Love You, ushered in a challenging and meaningful period for the artist: His wife, Melissa, died suddenly in 2008, and the songwriter put a hold on his music career to care for his young twin daughters. During that time, a tribute album and fundraising concerts—featuring artists like Thom Yorke, The National, Dinosaur Jr. and Michael Stipe—showed how influential his songs have been over the decades.
Before he grew a fanbase as a beloved solo act, Mulcahy started out as frontman to the Connecticut band Miracle Legion, then later formed Polaris, which became the house band on The Adventures of Pete & Pete.
Bandwidth was thrilled to recently host Mark and his band at the Wilderness Bureau, where they treated us to—in addition to “Badly Madly”—a cover of the disco hit “Ring My Bell.”
