But if you use payola while only accepting an outstanding sound quality, it gives us artists a chance.

This is our way to have our name viewed by others that might be able to make an impact into our careers. So as a serious artist, we take those blogs on to, hopefully, get into hands of bigger blogs. Because let’s be honest, there’s no way a major blog is going to post you unless you’re going viral or they’ve seen you on other big blogs. Point blank.

Add two more zeroes and you will get some results.

If they cant make money they should focus on trying to get the blogs buzz up and promote your blog to generate advertisers. Most blogs will just take your money and post your material all the way at the bottom where no one will see it anyways

The practice is definitely not restricted to the mentioned people/bloggers (Those are just the ones that have been kind enough to step out and talk about it) in this post. It may be nice for individuals pockets but It is indeed harmful to Hip Hop culture. It basically sends a message to artists that If your pockets are deep enough all you or a representative has to do is pay the right person to “get on”. It is Payola, there isnt anyway to sugarcoat it.

When I first started rapping I paid $5 to post my content on a blog. It didn’t generate much traffic (1. Because I was amateur, poor quality, etc. and 2. Because the blog site itself wasn’t generating much traffic). But then I realized that if I just put in the hard work MYSELF I can generate that traffic possibly even more and I haven’t paid a blog since.
