Sound Advice is Bandwidth’s recurring playlist of artists we think you should catch around D.C. this week.

Ready your fanny packs: This is a big week for outdoor music. Fort Reno wraps its short schedule Thursday with an unlikely pairing: electronic duo Protect-U and flower-sniffing hardcore band Give. Then two tornados touch down at Merriweather Post Pavilion later in the week, with Diplo’s bro-y Mad Decent Block Party taking over the Columbia, Maryland destination Friday, and the significantly less bro-y Summer Spirit Festival (with Ms. Lauryn Hill! Janelle Monae! Raheem DeVaughn! Junkyard and Backyard!) moving in the next day.

On the indoor tip, the largely enclosed DIY extravaganza In It Together Fest kicks into high gear this weekend, and promising uptown MC Ras Nebyu plays a mixtape release party Sunday at U Street Music Hall. Elsewhere, dancehall vet Barrington Levy drops by Howard Theatre, Japanese noise-rockers Boris melt eardrums at 9:30 Club, Bandwidth video star Mikaela Davis plays her harp at Jammin Java… and what else? Take a listen to our playlist and find out.
