During last night’s three-band bill on Black Cat Backstage, each performance roared with more volume and fury than the last. Ear-splitting local bands Citadel and Disciples of Christ opened, demonstrating once again the strength of D.C.’s metal scene. But as intense as those acts were, it would have been tough to top the sheer force of Richmond headliner Windhand, who delivered a crushing, raucous set that didn’t bring an assault on the eardrums so much as an invasion.
