“Where I’m at is where I go, and a circle ain’t my thing,” Oddisee raps on “Belong to the World,” an introspective track from his most recent LP, The Good FightIt’s a meditation on feeling like an outsider whose only clique is the world’s most inclusive one: his fellow inhabitants of Earth.

Today the rapper and producer originally from Largo, Maryland, premiered a new video for “Belong to the World” via Fader. Shot in Los Angeles by Zack Kashkett, it finds Oddisee roaming around solo, for the most part, looking spiritual while gazing across a dry California landscape, cool while puffing on a hookah and relaxed while rocking a crowd at the Echo.

The producer/MC tells Fader that “Belong to the World” is “about making a transition from feeling like I didn’t fit into anything into understanding we belong to everything. It is a song about understanding that the world is bigger than the small things we want to be a part of.”

Oddisee plays U Street Music Hall Oct. 16.

Oddisee is a great artist, doing the DMV proud! It is rare to find someone who excels like he does both as a producer and a lyricist.
