Just heard Shoe Shoe Shine and recalled the time I caught the group at the Little Egypt Supper Club n Detroit. What showmanship, what an experience to see this group and their lead singer, Tony, entertain. It was worth every dime and some.

I was not familiar with the Dynamic Superiors at the time they were hot, but the song “Shoe Shoe Shine” came back to me out of the clear blue sky forty years later! It is still a beautiful song.

In Detroit …there was a club that featured what they called”the powder puff review” . I didn’t attend because l just didn’t understand. So I missed out on what they said was” Pretty Tony” at his best. “One Woman Man” was one of most gut rendering vocal accomplishments I’ve ever heard.Sorry I didn’t cherish and patronize his talents while he was here. Rest In Peace Pretty Tony!!

I grew up with these guys in northeast DC. They were fun to be around and genuinely nice guys. George Peterbark aka Peterbark used to tell me about being on the road. This was long before they got a record deal with Motown. They were mostly doing shows at clubs up and down the east coast. My family owned a corner deli down the street from the house where they all lived and they came in frequently whenever they were at home. I’ve been in NYC for the last 32 years but I will never forget those days, my experiences living in DC and of course, the Dynamic Superiors.
